MAR 18: COMMANDERS SIGN MICHAEL DAVIS The Washington Commanders continue to expand their secondary.
According to the team, former Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Michael Davis will travel to the nation’s capital.
Davis, 29, played his first seven NFL seasons for the Chargers after going undrafted in 2017. Last season, he made 62 tackles and one interception in Los Angeles.
MAR 17 COMMANDERS RECEIVE IGBINOGHENE Another member of Dan Quinn’s Dallas Cowboys defense is heading to the nation’s capital.
According to ESPN’s John Keim, the Commanders have signed cornerback Noah Igbinoghene.
Igbinoghene, 24, was a first-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2020, where he spent three years until being traded to the Cowboys ahead of last season.
MAR 13 COMMANDERS BRING BACK REAVES. The Washington Commanders have kept one of their own free agents.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Commanders will add Pro Bowl special teams contributor Jeremy Reaves to a two-year contract.
Reaves is the Commanders’ first in-house free agent returning on a new contract.
MAR 12 COMMANDERS SIGN CHINN After adding linebacker Frankie Luvu from the Carolina Panthers, the Washington Commanders are signing another guy who is not on defense.
According to Bleacher Report insider Jordan Schultz, the Commanders have signed former Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn to a one-year, $5.1 million contract. He will reconnect with Luvu, who signed a three-year contract with Washington on Monday.
Chinn has struggled to stay on the field over the last two seasons, playing 23 games and totaling 100 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback hit. Chinn appeared to be on his way to becoming one of the league’s greatest safety the previous two seasons. In both seasons, he recorded over 100 tackles, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, two of which he returned for scores, and ten quarterback hits.
Chinn’s signing continues the Commanders’ defense makeover. Washington has also reached agreements with pass rushers Dorance Armstrong Jr., Dante Fowler Jr., Clelin Ferrell, and Luvu, who will play linebacker.
MAR 12: COMMANDERS SIGN MARIOTA. The Washington Commanders are expanding their quarterback room.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the organization will sign Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Marcus Mariota to a one-year contract worth up to $10 million.
Mariota, 30, is playing for his fourth team in as many years and will most likely be the team’s backup quarterback this season.
MAR 11: COMMANDERS SIGN MCMANUS The Washington Commanders have a kicker.
Former NFL defensive back Jason McCourty tweeted that Brandon McManus informed him that he had signed a one-year contract with the Commanders.
McManus, who turns 33 this summer, spent nine seasons with the Denver Broncos before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars last year.
