The Texas Longhorns are down to four members of the 2025 recruiting class after Pearland Shadow Creek linebacker Deuce Williams decommitted on Thursday evening.
“First off I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play this game and have the chance to play at the next level,” Williams said in a statement. “The University of Texas has been nothing but wonderful to me, and I cannot thank them enough; nonetheless, I have decided to withdraw from The University of Texas. My recruitment is officially reopened.”
The 6’3, 190-pounder chose Texas on New Year’s Day over finalists Auburn, Baylor, Notre Dame, and Oregon, and he also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas Tech. The Longhorns extended an offer to Williams in July and hosted him on many trips throughout the recruiting process.

“The coaches, for sure,” Williams told Inside Texas when asked why he originally chose Texas. “Everyone speaks about how wonderful the school and football team are, but the coaches are what really stick out to me. Even though my guy coach (Jeff) Choate is going, I still have fantastic ties with the coaching staff, which is why I believe they stand out to me the most.
Williams is now uncommitted again, with an official visit to TCU slated for June 20.
Williams, a consensus three-star talent, is ranked No. 533 overall and No. 59 linebacker by the 247Sports Composite.
