NEWS FLASH: Virginia Tech transfer Georgia Amoore commits to Kentucky

Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky Wildcats have earned their first major transfer recruiting triumph, and it’s a huge one!

After Brooks departed Virginia Tech to become head coach at Kentucky, it was expected that the Cats would sign multiple Hokies transfers and/or recruits who wanted to follow their coach to Lexington.

Georgia Amoore will be the first such player, having committed to Kentucky via Instagram on Tuesday.

Amoore, a 5-foot-6 point guard from Australia, averaged 18.8 points (41.2% from the field and 33.5% from three) and 6.8 assists per game this season. She is the program’s all-time assists leader.

Over the last two seasons, Amoore has helped construct the best stretch in Virginia Tech history, with the team winning 56 games and advancing to its first Final Four in 2023.

Amoore, one of the most decorated players in Virginia Tech history, has received the following distinctions over her four-year career to date:

Amoore and Brooks contributed to Virginia Tech’s status as one of the top women’s basketball schools. They will now attempt to accomplish the same for a Kentucky team that has never reached the Final Four and has not been in the NCAA Tournament since 2022.
