The Brisbane Broncos displayed their true colors by defeating the Cowboys 38-12 in the XXXX Derby in front of a sellout crowd of 45,793 at Suncorp Stadium.
Brisbane, wearing their Heritage Jersey with classic Broncos diamonds, put on a vintage performance built on defensive effort and fought for every single play, crossing for seven tries and upsetting the previously unbeaten Cowboys.

Pat Carrigan, the forward leader, was inspirational in his go-ahead and repeat attempts, and Corey Jensen also stood tall against his previous team.
The heavens opened in the lead-up to kickoff, with heavy rain drenching Suncorp Stadium, but that didn’t deter the home team’s start, with hooker Billy Walters ripping through the Cowboys tryline defence to score in the second minute.
