MAR 2, YOUNG GOAT? The discussion about the best collegiate quarterback during the BCS or collegiate Football Playoff era will continue for as long as it takes.
But one of the best to ever do it, former Auburn standout Cam Newton, has weighed in and selected a Longhorn.
According to Newton, Texas great Vince Young is the best collegiate quarterback to have played since 2000, knocking out names like himself, Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart, Tua Tagovialoa, Johnny Manziel, and others.
“No. 1 on my list is Vince Young,” Newton explained. The Rose Bowl. What he was able to do that game, no situation was ever too huge for him.”
While it is difficult to argue against Young being the choice, he lacks one thing that Newton and the other guys do: a Heisman Trophy.
However, many people believe that Young should have won the trophy over Reggie Bush.
In any case, it’s good to see probably the best quarterback in college football history finally get his due.
MAR 1 SANDERS RUNS 40 Ja’Tavion Sanders, a former Texas Longhorns tight end, is likely to be among the first players at his position taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s participating in the NFL Scouting Combine and did his 40-yard sprint on Friday evening in Indianapolis to further bolster his stock.
Sanders scored an unofficial 4.74 on his first attempt and a 4.69 on his second.
