BREAKING NEWS: Steelers sign the strongest number one for four year contract $150M

Pittsburgh — The Pittsburgh Steelers get their dream scenario in the newest CBS Sports mock draft, landing one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Steelers select Toledo great Quinyon Mitchell with selection No. 20, becoming only the second cornerback picked in the mock draft. He followed Alabama’s Terrion Arnold, who was drafted 17th by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Mitchell is a ready-to-play outside cornerback with excellent speed, instincts, and ball skills. “A huge boost for the Steelers secondary,” CBS Sports says.

Throughout the NFL Draft process, league sources have told All Steelers that Mitchell is a top choice for the Steelers. However, it was not thought that he would fall to them at the age of 20, making it unrealistic to bring him in for visits or invest too much in him as a potential.

If this situation plays out in the draft, Pittsburgh would jump at the chance to add a physical cornerback with a lot of potential. Mitchell, who stands 6-foot, 197 pounds, can play hard-nosed man-to-man coverage and would be an excellent complement for Joey Porter Jr.’s aggressiveness in Pittsburgh.

He concluded his college career with six interceptions, five of which came in 2022. There appears to be a slim chance he slips to selection 20, but if he does, the Steelers will most certainly have little choice about their first-round pick.
