Maroons great Corey Parker claims the Broncos will suffer the greater loss if rampaging forward Payne Haas misses the NRL grand final rematch against the Panthers on Thursday, despite the reigning champions potentially missing James Fisher-Harris.
Haas departed the match against the Rabbitohs on Thursday night with a knee injury and was unable to practice over the weekend.
Kevin Walters admitted the prop had been named for the NRL grand final rematch on Thursday, but was unsure whether he would play after training with the rehabilitation group on Monday.
“Payne has been named but we are not 100 per cent sure he will be playing yet,” Walters told reporters.
He still has some issues with his knee. He got scans and there wasn’t much there, but… He is still not fit to depart at this time.”
The Broncos will already face Penrith after losing Adam Reynolds to a knee sprain, so NRL fans will not get to see another clash between Brisbane’s No.7 and Nathan Cleary.
“Reyno will not play or be named. “He is out,” Walters confirmed, adding that Jock Madden will take over the No.7 shirt.
This comes as Penrith appears to be without Fisher-Harris, who left the Panthers’ victory over the Warriors in the 25th minute on Friday.
Panthers coach Ivan Cleary is prepared to lose the prop for the grand final rematch.
