BREAKING NEWS: Kansas City key player set to leave and

Brad Keller, an old acquaintance, reportedly signed a minor league contract with Kansas City’s AL Central opponent, the Chicago White Sox, as he tries to revive a once-promising career.

Keller has spent his whole career with the Royals organization, including six seasons in the major leagues before control difficulties plagued him in his final few years.

The Royals will now face their former prospect throughout the season, but it was widely assumed he would leave Kansas City regardless.

Royals’ Free Agency News: SP Brad Keller Signs With the White Sox

Keller had a 2.47 ERA in nine starts before being injured in 2020, but he has struggled with injuries and inconsistency in recent years.

Keller, for example, had a 5.09 ERA with 57 walks in 139.2 innings in 2022, but his performance plummeted this year. Despite only participating in 11 games in 2023, Keller had a 4.57 ERA and 45 walks in 45.1 innings.

He has plenty of promise, and the White Sox may be able to unlock a level of Keller that previously appeared to be a potential ace for the Royals. Kansas City’s pitching staff has significantly improved, and it is now capable of competing in the AL Central.

Keller is unlikely to make the major league rotation, barring injury, but Royals fans will get to witness the former potential ace throughout the season.
