The Melbourne Storm have announced that the son of club legend Matt Geyer will move after three seasons to play for the Burleigh Bears in the Queensland Cup.

“Cole Geyer, a Melbourne Storm hooker, has announced that he will return to the Gold Coast to play for the Burleigh Bears in the QRL competition beginning this season,” the Storm stated in a statement.

Storm signed Geyer at the end of 2021, and he informed his teammates of the move this morning during their captain’s run at AAMI Park.

“Cole has been a wonderful contributor and a great person to have at our club from the moment he walked in the door back in 2021,” stated General Manager Football Frank Ponissi.

“This is a great opportunity for Cole and wish him all the very best for the future.” Ponissi spoke.

Cole won the Melbourne Storm Under 21’s Darren Bell Medal in 2022 after playing 18 games for Easts over two seasons.

“Suluka-Fifita will join the Bulldogs squad immediately, signing a two-year contract for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.”

General Manager of Football Phil Gould confirmed the deal today, noting that the 112kg prop will provide valuable depth to the Bulldogs forward pack.

“Daniel is a tremendous young talent who has shown great potential coming through the pathways at Roosters and playing NRL at Souths,” Gould said in a statement.

“We are excited to have him at the Club and he will add great depth to our forwards.”

The front-rower will join the squad in Belmore starting tomorrow.

He is currently rehabbing from an ACL injury and is scheduled to return to play in May.
